Custom-made clothing in Beijing or Shanghai?

I will be in Beijing from May 25 to June 2 (less than a week, really) and in Shanghai from June 2 to June 6, and I would absolutely love to get something custom made like a cheongsam dress or a suit. Unfortunately, I'm also a poor student studying abroad for those two weeks. Where can I get something made quickly and preferably fairly cheaply? I keep hearing about people who get beautiful clothes made that fit them wonderfully, but is it really possible? Where can I go and how long will it take? And what should I get made? Thanks!!

tailor shop can be found easily in Shanghai. If you can ask hel pfrom a native, i believe the quality of your clothing can be well guaranteed.

usually the clothing can be finished within 3 days, if there are no many people waiting for their clothing in the shops.

The most famous place in Shanghai for cheongsams is Zhensi Dawang. I got mine made for approx USD 50 i think with silk material included. There is one famous shop in Beijing but I didn't made a cheongsam and I recall the name!!

May I ask what a cheongsam dress is, please?

On the same note, can you tell me if the traditional outfit, loose top with flared sleeves, frog at the throat, and matching pants, is available from a tailor or at any shoppes or markets?

Thank you in advance!

I did a search regarding the Cheongsam dress and the jacket with the frog closures.

I would be interested in recommendations for Beijing, too, as I will be there for a long period of time.

Thanks!
