FABULOUS!
Fantastic photos, as always.
Loved the pic of Jeane with the teeth sign. Thanks to your excellent photog, I'm 100% certain that Georgetown will be my next destination outside of Thailand! Thanks so much for helping me make that choice.
Carol
Cheryl and I really enjoyed your photos! They brought back great memories. The only place you visited that we haven't been is Langkawi.
After looking at your photos, we both thought it's been too long since we last visited Singapore, and we are both ready to return to Penang. (Carol - you'll love Georgetown!)
why do i have to find this at 11:36PM???
more than fabulous!!
Wonderful! I enjoyed revisiting some places through your photos and am equally delighted to glimpse some of what we missed. Jeane always looks so fresh despite a busy schedule and heat that makes some of us melt.
Craig, please excuse me if I slip in a word to Kathie, Carol and any others enjoying the photos who are planning a trip to Georgetown and might be considering the E&O (which I would indeed highly recommend after just spending 18 nights there).
The E&0 is opening a new, second building next right door (on the left when you are standing with your back to the street) "sometime in 2012." Much of the work on the suites is apparently done but the common areas still need lots of work so the opening date hasn't been publicly announced. It too will be an all-suites hotel, every one very spacious and with a sea-view, but the feel of the building will be quite different from the current "heritage" property and they are marketing it heavily to corporate clients. Once the new building comes on-line, they will close down Sarkies restaurant in the heritage property for remodeling for a time.
So if you plan to go back, Kathie, or go, Carol, do check up on the state of the new building at your time period, any ramifications for work on the heritage building then, and thoroughly consider whether you prefer the 19th century feel of the original building or the streamlined aesthetic and contemporary conveniences of the new building. For reference, there are about 100 suites in the original building and 139 (I believe) in the new building.
Your photos bring back so many memories. Great Job. I loved the one of Jeane cooking...really??? I can see a new set of note cards from some of those orchid pictures...just lovely. Why was there no one the beach at the 4 seasons on Langkawi? It looked like a fab place to chill out. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent photos! Even though you didn't take your DSLR the pictures are wonderful.
marya, thanks for the info.
Yes, marya... thanks! E & O is one of the places I'd love to consider when in Georgetown.
great pics, craig.
happy to see you riding the bull, and not the bear.
Karen, it was early afternoon and very hot out when I took that photo at the FS. Perhaps that is why the beach was deserted. However, we didn't see a soul in any of the shops either.
Great pictures.
Warm greetings Craig, and thank you for pictures, report - and spending money in our sweet home of Singapore! Glad you enjoyed your brief stay in SIN. To date, it's truly been a privilege having a home, family and work in the city-state.
Now, hope you return to Singapore many more times. Suspect you already know of a most efficient and memorable way of flying from the east coast of N. America to Singapore and return: The all-time cherished SQ 21/22. (Mind you, the non-stops are all business class product with SIA's business class fares to match, so be prepared to open the cheque book.) I've flown those SQ sectors for work and they are very special.
All the best and have fun planning. (And if so inclined, check out the Bangkok St. Regis bar scene and views on your next BKK visit - I stayed at that property last week for meetings; special staff and hotel, indeed.)

... Singapore Airlines, You're a Great Way to Fly ...
Robert, does the St Regis have a rooftop bar, similar to Sky Bar or Vertigo?
Coolie Craig,
Just now getting to these wonderful pictures. Love how good cameras(photogs)and smugmug present such a clear online image.
Those sunset photos of the Singapore skyline are fabulous and you can tell how much you enjoyed it with Jean and your smiles in the pics on the balcony with the sun setting behind you.....priceless.
Just moved Singapore and Georgetown up on the big list. Loved your pictures and report, thanks!
Aloha!
>>>Robert, does the St Regis have a rooftop bar, similar to Sky Bar or Vertigo?<<<
Warm greetings Carol - the delightful bar where I've had the pleasure of enjoying a few post-work drinks with colleagues and friends is on the 12th floor of the St. Regis. The venue does have an outdoor terrace which I've found to be quite special.
Each visit, I've seen more of a business traveller crowd, relative to the fine roof top venues you mentioned. (One of my visits entailed a semi-private reception; easily one of the better business functions I've had the pleasure of attending in Bangkok.)
I do love staying at the St. Regis for meetings. (Bit of a shameless plug, as some fine friends from the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit have been transferred to the property.) Hope to have more updates over the next several weeks.
Another Friday flying day for me, so early weekend wishes to you and all. (And if any of you are in Singapore next week for the 'National Day' festivities, our sweet home does put on a fine fireworks display, among other delights.)
robert
Thanks for the wonderful pictures Chris
Your photos are terrific Craig. It gave me a feel for places I have not yet been (Singapore excepted). I think Jeanne out to hang the photo of her pointing at a big sign of a set of teeth in her waiting room. And perhaps you riding the bull for your office.
