cooking schools in chiang mai and hanoi

looking for one day cooking schools in each city. prefer a/c if possible but lack thereof is not a deal breaker. prefer smaller rather than larger. prefer dishes which we might recreate at home.

thanks.

Bob, we spent 4 days at http://www.thaicookeryschool.com and loved it. The classroom is air con where the dishes are demonstrated. You then go out into an open air ( undercover) cooking station area to do your own cooking. Highly recommend it. We also stayed at chef Sompon's house where the school is ( lovely spacious rooms) and had dinner there one night cooked by him - amazing food!

Have used the recipes a lot at home and all are easily followed and achievable. You can download the recipes from their website.

rhkkmk in Chiang Mai!!!!! That's something I thought I would never see!

Another vote for Sompon's thaicookeryschool.com. Participants receive an excellent cook book including the dishes you make in class. They will also do pick up & return from your accommodation.

One more vote for the Thai Cookery School. We, too, stayed at the chef's house and enjoyed four days of classes. We still make the dishes we learned at the school. (And thanks to crellston for the recommendation.)

And another. Although it was so long ago I don't remember whether there was AC or not. Since I also don't remember being uncomfortable (and I don't handle heat and humidity well) I guess either there was AC or it didn't matter.

Good to hear it's still going strong.

Can someone recommend me a great cooking school in Bangkok, where is not too expensive?
I will be here in BKK for a couple of days and thought about taking a couple of classes.
Thank in advance for your suggestions

Hey, Bob, believe it or not, there is a faint possibility we may be in CM briefly this trip. We have decided to go to Sukhothai, and may opt to go to Chiang Mai and drive from there... we can also fly on Bangkok Air or take a train.

If it actually happens, I think we will have moved into a parallel universe!
