Community Bank card wont work at 7/11 (VISA)

I have a community bank card with just the NYSE and Co-op network. But that shouldn't be a problem since it is VISA.

I was told by the operator back at home that it would work internationally, which it has to an extent. I paid for my hotel with it. I'm about to try Japan post and Citibank within the next 30 minutes.

I really need this money as I'm studying abroad for 8 months here so I can't really live on 20,000 yen for 8 months.
