coastal Central Vietnam (Hoi An and Hue) trip report
I've started my trip report of our trip to Hoi An and Hue, complete with photos, here:

Some info not discussed there:
We flew EVA from NY to Saigon and got a great deal, basically $1000 round trip including all taxes, fees, etc... Then flew Vietnam Airlines from Saigon to Danang, then returned from Hue to Saigon - about $300 round trip.
In Hoi An, we stayed at the Anantara, which I would heartily recommend. Our room was beautiful and had a great view of the river. The tub/shower was a little odd, but all in all ok -and the service there was fantastic. I can't rave about their service enough. Good breakfast buffet including a rotating Viet soup station, and great local fruit selection as well as all the western standards, breakfast included in our rate.
In Hue, we stayed at La Residence Hue, which used to be an M Gallery hotel, but now is no longer affiliated. Since we made our reservation while they were still together, they credited our bill for a monetary equivalent of the points we would have earned. They also gave us vouchers for 2 free 45 minute massages at their spa, which was amazing. Service was fantastic, and the room and hotel were beautiful.
When returning to the area, I'd stay at both of these hotels in a heartbeat. Not only were they beautiful, but a great value.
