A really stupid question from a newbie traveling to Asia...I just want to be informed as to what to expect.
Traveling from DFW to Los Angeles to Bangkok via Hong Kong~
Will we have to clear Customs and Immigration in Hong Kong even though we are just changing planes to get to Bangkok?
We will clear C&I in Bangkok. Correct?
After a 3 night layover in Bangkok, we fly to Phuket. We won't have to do it again will we?
Coming home, we'll travel from Phuket to Los Angeles to DFW with a 3 night layover in Hong Kong. We'll have to clear C&I in Hong Kong correct?
Then we'll clear C&I again in Los Angeles and not DFW. Correct?
Thanks so much.
Clear Customs at HKG en route to BKK?

No need to go through immigration or customs in Hong Kong if you are just transiting. When you check your baggage make sure that it's all the way to Bangkok. If you are travelling on the same airline they will give you the boarding pass for your connecting flight as well.
Once you're in Thailand you do not need to go through immigration or customs again until you leave the country.
On your return flight to the US yes at LAX.
