Trip Report - 5 1/2 days in Luang Prabang
The Oriental did last year so I assume they do every year. Seems to me they started at around 9:30 or 10. Their dinner had a huge focus on children -- lots of activities for them-- so I think it was relatively early. I didn't see any other fireworks from other hotels that night but I might have missed them. Obviously, however, if you were at any of the other river hotels you would have seen the Oriental's.
Isis,
Loy Kratong and the New Year are the two guarantee occasion when most of the major hotels along the river will put on a firework show. Loy Kratong is probably the grandest in term of firework display. As for the time of the firework show - for Loy Kratong it varies and the best way to find out is to ask one of the major hotel when they will start. For the new year they all start at midnight.
For Christmas sometime they will have it but not so many hotel like the other two occasion that I've mentioned. There are also other occasion when certain hotel along the river will have firework display like a private convention, party etc.
