China`s must see in 15 days

With so many interesting places to visit in China, what would you recommend as the must see`s? Please, help me to choose what to include in a two weeks visit and what would you left out. Here is my tentative list: Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Lhasa, Suzhou, Kunming Stone Forest, Dali, Lijiang and Shanghai. Did I left a must see out? Did any one of these could be left out without feel guilty later? Thanks for your input.

It takes about 3 weeks on an organized tour to cover all those places you mentioned. If you do it on your own, be prepared to spend a month.

Try really hard to find a tour that you can hook up with upon arrival. You'll spend most of your time trying to get from one destination to another. I would never venture to China without a structured tour. Great time to be going. Have a good time. Take a look at China Focus Travel out of San Francisco. Might give you some ideas of itineraries.

I took a tour with China Focus (9 days actually in China) and we ran our tails off (flew between cities)! Great trip - Shanghai, Xian, Guilin and Beijing. Frankly, I wasn't that impressed with Shanghai - just another big city, lots of construction, modern high-rises. Beijing is a must, Xian if you want to see the terra cotta warriors (great); Guilin for the countryside and various sites. Don't know about the other cities. If you'd like my daily diary on my trip, e-mail me directly.

I would definitely include Beijng, Xian for the warriors, Guilin and Lhasa. If I wanted to eliminate it would by Shanghai--the problem being that you then wouldn't get to Suzhou. You might want to add Chengdu to see the pandas and other things there. Lhasa is fantastic so I wouldn't drop that. You may find the website link in my signature useful to you. I have some great photos along with information about each of the places we visited in October on a 23 day trip. We did not have enough time in Beijing. I would say 4 days Beijing, 4 full days in Lhasa and then divide up the rest of the time as you choose. Remember that you need to build in a lot of flying time which usually takes part of each day. Usually you still have time for sightseeing in the morning or afternoon depending on your flight times. Hope this helps.<BR>
