China Construction Bank Hong Kong
We opened a Bank of America account for our trip to Hong Kong. Their website says that we have no fee ATM withdrawals at China Construction Bank. Unfortunately, the location information on their website is in Chinese. Does anyone know of any specific locations for this bank's ATMs/branches in Hong Kong or Macau? We leave 2 weeks from Sunday!!! We're so excited!!

The address of their branches in Hong Kong are below. (They don’t appear to have any in Macau.). I agree you should check with BoA on the foreign exchange issue, if they will charge it, you just as easily can continue to use your local bank’s ATM card who will probably charge it as well. If your local bank is on CIRRUS, PLUS etc you will find ATMs all over town which where you will be able to use your card (Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank just to name three). There is really no reason to have opened a bank account just to use an ATM for “free” in Hong Kong if BoA is going to charge you for the foreign exchange. The ATM fee might be US$5 for a foreign ATM withdrawal, but the foreign exchange fee would certainly be a lot more than that. Something to bear in mind. Virtually all but the smaller places here take credit cards, which is the way to pay as they get the best exchange rate (even with exchange fees), so you can keep cash spending to a minimum. You can buy groceries and the Octopus card with credit cards.

Thank you so much for the help! I can't believe you typed all of those addresses! We did open the account for the trip, but it was mostly because we both have regional banks for our primary accounts and have had problems when traveling overseas. Again, thanks and I will check on the foreign exchange rate.

Megan, I opted to get an additional account for use when I'm traveling overseas. Not only does it not have charges for use of a foreign ATM, it does not have a foreign exchange charge. It also has the benefit of paying just over 5% interest. It's an internet savings account with HSBC. Another poster here gave me the tip. I used my card last year in Thailand and Malaysia with no problems and no extra charges. There are other banks (and credit unions) as well that don't charge the 3% on foreign exchange, but you do have to look for them!

Updating on this thread. I used my US-issued BoA debit card to withdraw HK$ at CCB 2 days ago, and so far I haven't seen any extra fees. Exchange rate is exactly the posted one - US$269.71 for HK$2,000.
Now, I need to find what's the maximum I can get daily. Also, CCB's ATM in HK can also dispense RMB, but I doubt I'll use that feature this time.
