Chiang Mai - Guest Houses??

Hello again,

Thanks for all your help.

I have one more place to book. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive, yet close to the attractions (or transit system) in Chiang Mai for 1 single female traveler?

Maybe a tour guide as well.

Traveling Mid May.

Catherine

Baan Orapin would probably suit you, but depends just how inexpensive you want. There are plenty of cheap places to stay.

What sort of budget are you thinking of ?

Tri Gong residence. In the northeast corner of the old city, sort of a backpacker area. The area is pretty and laid back. The guest house is clean, friendly, safe and inexpensive. There is an internet cafe across the street. Close to transportation. The proprietor, Adam, was very helpful. If you go there, a great spot for breakfast, snacks is Blue Diamond cafe, a couple of blocks away.

I don't know what your budget is, but I was traveling alone in Chiang Mai last year and stayed at the MD Guesthouse. It was a great place (with free wireless Internet, computers there for those without laptops, and a gym). I think it was around $15 a night...maybe less?

This isn't first hand, but I'll second Baan Orapin. My sister stayed here in Jan 08 and really loved it.

Hello,

Thanks for all your help. I will be googling these various hotels.

I will be traveling for a month and am looking for the $20.00 range. I would rather spend money on the sites, but at the same time want something clean and safe.

The information provided has helped me so much, as I have many doctor's appointments; they are starting to slow down, which will allow more time to study/plan.
