I'm, sorry----Yes, I'm going to need a cell phone while I'm in Thailand(to call/receive to the States). I googled it and came up with many choices for rentals and was just wandering if anyone had suggestions. Thanks you.

There are two main mobile phone service provider in Thailand - AIS and DTAC. I'm not sure which has the cheaper International call rate so try checking their web site:
http://www.ais900.com/e/cms/home.htm
http://www.dtac.co.th/
It also might interest you that certain cell phone from the States work in Thailand. If your phone company use the GSM phone system then you can apply for the international roaming service and then your phone, with it's original number, will work in Thailand(Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, SIngapore, Hong Kong..........). Make sure that your phone(multi band) can operate in the 900, 1800 system - US GSM is 1900.
If you want to rent a phone I suggest you do it at the airport on your arrival.
