The UA fare from ORD-BKK-ORD changes practically on a day-to-day basis. The nonstop flight (882) that I prefer to take, on my way back home from NRT, is priced way out of line with everything else. WHY???? Anyway, I hit "purchase" for a return by way of SFO. The price was under $1100, which is the least I've paid for a BKK ticket recently. So I'M GOING back to BKK in mid-August for 12 nights. Yipeee! I've also got my favorite 1-bdrm apartment at the Adelphi Suites all lined up.
Now it's just a matter of compiling my shopping list!! (smile)

AGGH! All of you guys going to Bangkok are making me jealous! I'm so happy for you Carol, but so sad for myself that we have to wait almost 11 months before we head back to SE Asia.

I don't think I can bring myself to read your trip report...the envy may kill me.
I'm teasing...I'm thrilled for you. I just want to GO TO BANGKOK NOW!
Sounds like a great trip. Wish BKK well for us!
Yeaaaaaa! Take me with you...
Now guys, you know my 3 suitcases go TO BKK only partly full. But on the way back they are stuffed to the gills. We would somehow have to deal with that situation. You might fit inside (all curled up for 20+ hours) on the way THERE, but then you'd be on your own as far as getting back home.
Could you really handle all the shopping I do???
Me too please!! (or can i give you a shopping list????)
carol, thats a good fare. its about the same from hnl-bkk. is this trip a warmup for the big bangkok gtg in nov?
I need to retire,lol
Wave to us when you fly over the jealous people in Hawaii.
Aloha!
Ken
I wish I could attend a GTG in BKK in November, but I won't be back in the city until sometime in December (for Christmas and New Years).
I, too, am envious. While I'll be there in November, with the great fares, I'd like to go NOW.
Peter, I just saw your post. I shall, indeed, wave to you as we fly over. I'll see you in HNL in September! Hopefully that crazy guy in N Korea doesn't spoil our plans.
Kathie, have fun at the GTG in BKK with Ken and Bob and Andy and everyone else. I'll most likely be in Switzerland when you guys are meeting.
Carol
Excellent Khun Carol! Hope to see you this time.
Hanuman, I hope we do catch up this time. Brad is going to be in the city from July 6-16. I don't know if you still have Brad's phone number or not. He will be showing another first-timer around Bangkok. He always enjoys doing that. This new guy is a real foodie, so I'm sure they will have some great meals.
ok i too have my bkk tickets for nov 13-29...only bad part is i have to share with gpanda...
today i got our spring tickets to SEA: bali, penang and singapore---korean air from DC through seoul
Carol,
Yes I still have Brad's number. I'll be in Guilin and Yangshuo from July 3 - 11 and will give Brad a call when I come back.
Just had a great meal at a new restaurant in Bangkok call "The Oyster Bar". American own, American chef and American head waiter! 8 Different kind of imported live oysters available every day and they were delicious. Check out their web site and perhaps Brad will be interested. Very popular and reservation highly recommended.

I am so jealous Carol. The 2 short nights that I spent in Bangkok last week really reinforced how much I love the place.
I will definately allocate more time to Bangkok next year. It's a different experience for us to most of you as we have the 2 kids with us but it is still fantastic.
Hey Carol, good to hear. Hope we can touch base this time. I know I'll be around from 3rd to 8th at the very least.
Michael, I'll arrive late on the 7th, leaving for home on 19th. It's a short stay, but it's all I can muster for now.
