Cambodia evisa
Has anyone had recent experience using the evisa to enter Cambodia. We will be going on a tour with OAT in early December and they strongly recommend getting visas in advance through a service. This will involve an extra $135. in fees and mailing costs. I don't mind the extra money if the evisa is unreliable or problematic. Would appreciate any comments on experiences. Thanks.

We got our evisa online through the Cambodian immigration website. I think I heard they weren't doing it anymore. But it cost us the normal amount (I thought it was $15, but maybe it was $25). I would NOT pay $135. If you can't get it on-line yourself, just wait and get it at the airport. It didn't seem to be taking people very long at all.
Another hint - DON'T bother to change any money at the airport. Just use US dollars. No one wants Cambodian money - even in the markets. Everything is priced in US dollars.
Enjoy Cambodia. The people are wonderful and the temples are amazing.

The Cambodia normal visa fee at airports and land crossing is $20US although at some land crossing they try to charge you more. An E-visa can be obtained from this new site so I am told. The old site was shut down by the government. How reliable this new site is i don't know as yet

Is that $135 fee for a cambodia visa only or for a Vietnam one also. I note that some of Oat's tours to Cambodia start in vietnam.

Thanks for all your responses. I see I can apply directly from the Cambodian embassy by mail. The $135. is extra fees, $50. each for my husband and myself, plus $25. shippings charges, plus about $10. for me to send the applications and passports to the service. We are not going to Vietnam, but we are going to Thailand. Thanks for all the tips -- am looking forward to the trip. This is actually a pretrip for the Thailand trip.
