Budget hotel for overnight stay in Hong Kong

Jump to last reply

I have a 12 hour layover in Hong Kong (from a long 15 hour flight from Los Angeles), arriving at 7pm with next day flight at 10:30am. I have never been to Hong Kong and would love to at least see the city. I have a wife and 4 year old in tow. I have been thinking of the following options:

1. Take Airport express line to HK station (have heard this is a 25 minute ride) and check into a budget ($100 USD or less) hotel. Eat out in the city and explore by foot for an hour or two. This may or may not be feasible depending on how we feel after the long flight.

2. Stay in a hotel reasonably near the airport that is not horrendously expensive. Royal View Hotel seems reasonable at ~75 per night but is almost 30 minutes from the airport and it also seems like there is nothing in the vicinity.

Any other recommendations and advice welcome.

Thanks,
Chandra
