We are looking around for Budget hotels in Singapore and came across the New 7th Story Hotel located in 229 Rochor Road (says it's located in the heart of the city, next to the famous Bugis Street) It sounds good and is pretty affordable (S72) but we wanted to check if anyone's been there and would recommend it? What did you like/disliek about it? Thanks!
Budget Hotel: 7th Story Hotel good?

I live in Singapore all my life and 7th storey had been around all these while. Though an old hotel, it had been renovated and should be OK if you are looking for simple rooms. The location is downtown, in the older part of the city where most people don't live anymore (except for tourists), though it is really close to fun places like Little India. if u want the cheapest room with the same standard, look at the Hotel 81 chain instead. It has lower price and a number of locations, closer to round-the-clock food fare but not as close to the underground system. Beware if u are not an adventurous person, coz these budget hotels are in the sleazier part of town. (Not anywhere close to the sleaziness in other countries though, considering Singapore's aggressive anti-vice policies) Should be an adventure in itself just looking at people and traditional shophouses~) Hotel 81's website is pretty helpful (http://www.hotel81.com.sg), and although i've never stayed there, i did book it once for a visiting friend and they liked the price!
