I am trying to narrow down my choices for a vacation this fall (Thanksgiving time). I am 39, female and will be traveling alone, so am looking for a tour company that caters to smaller groups. I am very active and enjoy adventure vacations. I was thinking of trekking w/ some camping (not too many days!!!) in Bhutan. Anyone have any suggestions? I've researched MT Sobek and REI since those are the 2 I am most familiar with. THOUGHTS? HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS? thanks! Lisa

Have you used any of these companies before?
Hi Lisa-I'm in India at present and I saw your post re Bhutan T/Agents. We stayed at Holumba Cottages, a very fine little orchid nursery cum B&B in Kalimpong, West Bengal, close to Bhutan, in early April. Whilst we were there me met a group travelling with White Lotus Tours-see www.whitelotustours.com. The group had high praise for this company. Their guide Tenzin Thinley told us he could arrange any kind of tour in Bhutan and he was most helpful & ready to discuss our requirements & negotiate price when I explained the country was a little too expensive for us. We hope to get there later in our jorney, however after talking with most of the members of this goup of people, all with varied interests, I was glad we'd had first hand recommendations for a travel agent for Bhutan. Can only say we'd use this company ourselves! Good luck!
We used Yu Druk Tours and Treks last fall - we toured and didn't trek - my husband and I with a car and driver, but the owner, Sonam Wangmo, was leading a group of about 5 or 6 women on a trek. We were very satisfied with their services, and they were very good about e-mail communications before our trip. Go to www.yudruk.com
I just gor back -- we booked through Jachung Travel in CA -- they are affiliated with Eagle Tours in Bhutan. Both organizations were great!
