does anyone have any advice on the best/easiest way to get to my hotel (The Oriental) from the Singapore airport? I've read that there are mini-buses that are quite good...what is the cost of taking a taxi vs. this mini-bus?
any info is greatly appreciated!

I have to say that I don't know anything about minibuses in Singapore. I always take a taxi - quick and cheap.
I have taken a taxi many times to and from the airport. The cost is usually around 20 to 28 Singapore dollars.
I go to Sinagpore regularly for vacation. Just take a taxi. It'll be about US$15.00 during the day...a little more during the evening...It depends on what time you arrive. There are over 15,000 taxis in Singapore and they are quite reasonable. Happy Travels!
Taxi is easiest, there is the SMRT but this really only ok if you have a small amount of baggage and your hotel is very close to an SMRT station, honestly getting a taxi is easiest ( avoid the limousine guys who will head towards you as you go to the taxi point, Singapore taxis are fine and simply not nexessary to splash out on the limo, takes just the same time ).
Also not that there is the Mini-van Airport service but they charge 'per passenger', it used to be SGD 7, so if 2 of you it is already SGD 14, for 3 SGD 21, now compare that with the straight taxi costs!
Hi,
A taxi there shouldn't cost you more than $20 USD including an optional tip. Cabbies are great, as you'll see that they are very proud of their city/country. I always got great local information from the cab drivers en route from the airport to either the Fullerton or Marriott whenever I stayed there.
Many taxi drivers are retired police officers - and very very friendly to chat with. Taking a taxi is worth it just for the talking experience ...
In a word...take a taxi !.Quick,easy and cheap.
