Best time to travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand?
Hi, I'm a veterinary student traveling to Thailand to work with some dairy farmers and also at the Elephant Conservation centers in Chiang Mai. I will be there for 4 wks, and can travel anytime between May 12, 2004 and Jan 30, 2005.
What would be the best 4 wk block to travel, taking into consideration weather, cheap airfare, and any special events?

I believe that right now is the best time of the year to be in Chiangmai. Temperatures are very liveable with and rain is essentially non-existent. The nights and early morning can be cold, particularly up in the hills, but should not worry anyone from a temperate climate.

I am flying from RDU, NC... but can also fly from LAX as I have family close by. Either way, I figure no matter where I am traveling from there are months when airfare is more expensive going to Chiang Mai, right?
