Best of Koh Tao
Hi everyone,
I'll be going to Koh Samui for a a week at the beginning of August. I was thinking of spending 2-3 nights in Koh Tao. Has anyone been there and can advise as to whether the trip from Koh Samui was worth it, activities in Koh Tao, and what hotels are the best there.
Thanks!

Hi Perel
I have been to Koh Tao a couple of times, albeit 10 years or so ago. We went primarily for the diving which is pretty good as is the snorkelling. Then is was relatively quiet with mainly very basic hotels but I think there has been a lot of development. The beaches are ok but not the best for swimming and lounging. There are better on KS.
Personally, if you are not into diving I would forget it for 2-3 nights. From memory it is about an hours speedboat ride or 2 by ferry, so travel time will eat into a short stay

I wouldn't visit Koh Tao until they release the 2 Burmese guys who are unjustly tried and convicted of the murder of two English tourists
It is clear the island is "ruled" by a family of influence and I for one don't want to give them my money.

Hi all - were back and I wanted to update and thank all for your input. Koh Tao was amazing, I can't wait to go back. We did Scuba diving with a company called Bombona, they were great. The hotel that we stayed at, called View Point, was beyond words. I highly recommend. Koh Tao is a great island, and definitely worth the long ferry ride there. I wish I had spent more time in Koh Tao instead of visiting Koh Samui. Thanks again to everyone.
