Best month for weather, Burma, Laos

I know it is hot in those locations but what is the best, i.e., coolest, time to travel there?

I personally like the shoulder seasons on both ends. Lower prices, and less people. We visited Burma in March, and Laos in October, and both trips were hot but still tolerable.

I'm with Kathie. November, Dec, January. I just returned from Myanmar (see my trip report) mid march and I though I would die some days. The temperature ranged from 102-106F. (I live in Boston, so heat is not my friend) I arrived Feb 26 and left March 13. The only place it was close to tolerable was Inle Lake. Unless you like oppressively hot weather, go with Kathie's advice. That being said, I had a good time, but it would have been easier in the 80's and 90's.

Thanks for all replies. I do not like hot weather and don't handle it well. We were in Cambodia , Thailand and Cietnam in October one year and it was pretty hot in some areas. This is very helpful.

I was in Myanmar for 12 days in November 2014. The hottest place was Yangon. The rest of the places, bagan, Mandalay, Inle Lake it was in the mid 80's. Not bad with the humidity, some afternoon rain showers. I tend to pass out if it gets too hot and I was fine.

In all of my travels, Yangon is the hottest city I've visited.

We just traveled through Myanmar and Laos, and found the weather (and lack of tourists) great, despite it being one of the non recommended seasons. Heat and monsoon are not as extreme in this countries, so don't let them stop you!
