Best location for snorkelling/ beach/ quiet resort/ great Thai food
My 60 year old husband and I are looking for the best resort in Southern Thailand to enjoy a beautiful beach, great snorkelling, great Thai food and not too many people. Any suggestions ? We are open to most prices and only want to stay 4 days at the end of a SEAsia adventure. Any suggestions?

In that case you really want to be on the Andaman coast for the. Best weather . Koh Lanta has some decent snorkelling sites close to the beaches and some nice hotels.
Phuket is or course the biggest and has the most hotel choices. Snorkelling around there won't be the best but it is easy enough to get a snorkelling trip. Any dive shop will take snorkellers as well as divers to local site.
Khao Lak has reasonable beaches and is closer to the similan islands with some world class diving and snorkelling. A lot quieter than Phuket but getting busier.

I think the weather should be fine in Koh Kood and that will certainly fit the bill re fewer people as it is more difficult to get to.
I would avoid, Koh Tao, although the snorkelling and diving is excellent, the weather will not be quite so good as the Andaman coast, but mainly because the place is backpacker central and certainly not quiet. Also, there has been the odd murder or two in recent years!

Ko Pha Ngan has some pretty solid spots, but it might be a little overcrowded now. I was there three years ago and it wasn't too bad but I'm not sure if its changed.
I found this article which might help give you a more complete picture and some potential options.
