A while ago I posted an offer here to forward accounts of two walks around Beijing's back lanes (hutong) to anyone who wanted them, and I think about 300 people asked for copies before the posting finally dropped off the list somwhere.<BR><BR>I've been in Beijing five times in the past year and a few days ago had a chance to re-walk these two routes. Much of Beijing is being flattened; whole city blocks vanish almost overnight, and it's not surprising that I found considerable changes to one of the walks, and imminent change threatened to the other.<BR><BR>I've added details of these changes to the original articles, and more information about some of the buildings to be seen on these walks.
