1. From Beijing Airport, take Airport Express(RMB25) to its terminal at Dongzhimen Station, switch for subways(RMB2) to Wangfujing Station.
2. If having luggages, I might take the airport bus route 2(RMB16) outside the arrival halls, get off at its terminal in front of Xidan Civil Aviation Building.
Then take a cab to Wangfujing, around RMB20.
We took the airport express train to Dongzhimen station. There is a long flight of stairs straight up when you exit the Airport Express. Once outside we took a taxi to our hotel which was near Wangfujing Station. The taxi from Dongzhimen station to our hotel was 17rmb. Be careful, black taxi's were asking 100rmb for this 17rmb trip.
Easiest: Jump in a cab. Be sure to join the taxi queue well-signposted at each terminal and under no circumstances go with anyone who accosts you in the terminal. Approx cost depending on time of day and exact destination: ¥100 including ¥10 expressway toll.
Cheapest: Go to basement level at Terminal 2. Exit from left-hand most door and turning left follow road round to right. Go through bike park on left, and exiting at the other end cross road and carry on in same direction away from terminal, crossing one left major turn and passing under a bridge. Just before second bridge look for track in grass on left, climb wall, follow path up bank, squeeze through fence. On your left you'll find the original airport terminal (well-preserved piece of period architecture in a country where this is highly unusual), and across a parking area a three-star hotel. Go round that and you'll find a number of ordinary city buses waiting to take you into town. No. 359 will take you to Dong Zhi Men Wai, at ¥1 for the first 12km and ¥0.5 for each subsequent 5km. Dong Zhi Men (on the second ring road) is 15 stops away (the bus uses the side road, not the expressway) and the total cost will be about ¥2.5. From Dong Zhi Men you can get on the metro system and be at Wangfujing or Tian'an Men Dong with one change of line for ¥2. Total cost: ¥4.50. If you buy an yikatong (Beijing Super Pass) before boarding the bus, then the bus element will be reduced by 60%, making a total of ¥3. The only cheaper way is walking.
Fastest: Airport Express Line from directly outside terminals 2 and 3: ¥25. Alight at San Yuan Qiao and head south on Line 10 to Guo Mao. Change to Line 1 to reach Wangfujing or Tian'an Men Dong, for a further ¥2. Total: ¥27.
