Beaches in Mid September? how bad is rain?
Hi,
Very last minute I am planning to travel to Thailand next weekend. I've been there 2 times already and last time was during September (Hua Hin). I read about monsoon but I also read that there are beach areas that are less affected: like the gulf beaches, samui, ko tao and ko pangan may be better. Can anybody recommend a top hotel (with a nice beach)?

September rainfall stats ( ins pm )
Bangkok : 12.6
Pattaya / Jomtien Beach: 5.4
Hua Hin / Cha Am: 5.4
Samui area / Koh Tao: 7.6
Phuket area / Krabi : 16.5
Howe long are you staying, just a short beak or longer?
Sheraton Hua Hin has deals at the moment, Sharaton Pattaya/Jomtien would make a change, there is the Dusit Resort North Pattaya is a nice resort.
As you know already about Hua Hin, from Bangkok New Airport to Pattaya / Jomtien is about 90 minutes to 2 hrs
Samui should be over the absolute peak though probably still very busy as very popular Aug / Sep months.

Asiaoz with Rates To Go availability is very good for Last minute, they show you exactly the number of rooms available at each hotel or resort in 'real time', you just pay a deposit and balance you pay at the hotel
www.asiaoz.com and go to Rates To Go, they also have the Sawadeee options though to get 'Instant Confirmantion' the rates to go is excellent.
Evason Hua Hin does 'not' have good beach and during September their pool is 'closed' so guests get to use the pool at another nearby resort, hence they have slashed their September rate down to THB 1,600 a night inc tax, service, breakfast , that is about US$49 ! So although beach not great it is an 'Evason' and they are offering that rate whilst their pool is closed.
