bangkok marriott problem thru priceline
thanks to this forum, we have reserved great hotels thru priceline. unfortunately, when i booked for our first 3 nites in bkk, i only got one
room. there are 3 of us and i had no way to let them know that. will the hotel allow 3 people in one room? can you upgrade when you buy on priceline? do the marriott rooms have two queen beds available? should i call them and explain
our requests.?
at the end of our month long trip, we got 2 rooms at the shangri la for 3 nites for $60. such a deal.
thanks bob?

Can I ask what you did on priceline to get the rooms for that price? We have never used priceline before and am a little nervous about getting a hotel that we dont want!!! But both the Marriott and the shanggri la are the hotels that we want!!!

divediva-did you use priceline.com or priceline.com.sg or hk? You are one lucky lady, for sure! I hope you'll find the Marriott will allow a roll-away bed in the room. I'd email them and ask. Most hotels offer an upgrade, if rooms are available. We upgraded at Shangri-La-no problem! Don't know about queen beds as we don't stay at Marriott until Dec.

divediva---may is suggest that you contact the hotel (marriott) by e-mail to ask that another bed be added to the room....all priceline hotels are for 2 people only, as it clearly states in their postings....
i'm sure the marriott will charge you $15 or so for an additional person...there are no queen beds---only kings (giant kings) and twins...they must have single doubles as well but i have never seen one there......i have the manager's card here someplace so i will dig it out and post you his direct address or another hotel address if i find that in a few minutes...
have you joined the shangri-la F/F club...remember free breakfasts and late check out if you do...

thanks again for your help everyone.
i used priceline.com....1st try 5 star hotel by
river...2 rooms at $60...and got the Shangri-la. ;-)
i tried again for another 3 nites at the beginning of our stay and got denied.
i next tried for a four star hotel on the river @ $60. for 2 rooms but it only gave me one room (error on my part for not catching it) and we lucked out by getting the Marriott. when i tried for a second room, same dates...i got denied.
i did join the F/F club and look forward to
my breakfasts...i will be thinking of you rhkkmk.
this was my first priceline purchase...always afraid to use it before but because of all the
success of fodorites...we get to stay in two of the best hotels in bkk....thank you thank you

To the best of my knowledge, none of the rooms at the Marriott have two double or queen beds. If you have a regular/standard double room, I believe there is only one double bed, and the double rooms are small and may not accomodate a roll-awy bed (have not stayed in one of their doubles since my very first stay in 1997 but that is my recollection.) If you have a junior suite, there is room for a roll-away bed. Call or e-mail the hotel to confirm what type of room you have, and whether you can upgrade and what they charge for a roll-away.
