Bangkok in April?!?

My family and I are planning a trip to Thailand in April this year and are really wanting to visit Bangkok. The weather in Bangkok during April however appears to be very hot and humid with a bit of rain. We would absolutely love to spend some time in the city but not sure if the weather will accommodate the dry and pleasant temperatures we are looking for. My family can handle the heat but would prefer not to be miserable while touring the temples. Would it be a good idea to visit Bangkok in April? Thanks!

Blazing hot. I remember being there the last week in March, but I was fine with both the heat and rain. I remember being stuck, over an hour, in the underground parking lot of the airport as my driver couldn't exit due to the streets being flooded from the rain. But, the rain would come and go so it wasn't like it rained all the time for the whole week.

As far as I'm concerned, I love Bangkok so much until I'd probably go around anytime although November/December/January are my favorite months. I've also been, several times, in August when it can be pouring rain, but that never slowed me down that much. Plus, it's warm rain. I'm glad to be leaving soon as the weather should be really good.

Happy Travels!

Bangkok is open for tourism 365 days a year. May sees the start of the monsoon season, so while it will no doubt rain in April it'll be in short sharp bursts, usually in the afternoon or early evening.

Make sure your accommodation is close to either a Skytrain [BTS] station, or an Underground [MRT] station, or a Public Ferry Pier [ferries stop running at around 1830].

Three must-do things [imo] for a short visit are...

1. A trip on a public ferry [orange flag] from Central Pier to Nonthaburi. Takes about an hour along the Chao Phraya River, taking in some wonderful sights along the way. A ticket costs about 15 baht, and that covers the full length of the trip. All the stopping piers are numbered, and some are very useful 'jump-off' points. The following link is an 'All-in-One' Guide to Public Transport in Bangkok...

2. Lumphini Park. A green oasis in the middle of the madness...

3. To escape the heat and humidity for a couple of hours, and right in the middle of modern Bangkok is Siam Oceanworld...

Oceanworld is in the Siam Paragon building, which is also a shoppers paradise, and has a superb food-court offering food from all around the world.

I have been going to Bangkok in April for the last 6-7 years. It is always hot and humid. I do not let rain bursts slow me down. I am there to shop and visit friends and attend a couple of events, not to see the sights. I imagine visiting temples and the Grand Palace might be somewhat sticky and unpleasant. A friend would sweat bullets everytime she stepped outside!

It is hotter than hell in April - I love Bangkok and would avoid it at that time of the year.
