Bangkok hotel

When arriving in Bangkok we are staying at the Shangri La for 3 nights. After visiting northern Thailand and the islands, we'll return to Bangkok for the flight home. We will be staying 2 more nights in Bangkok, one full day. We plan to spend that day shopping.

Any recommendations for a hotel those last nights? Want to stay somewhere as nice as Shangri La, considered the Peninsula but not sure it's worth it. We probably won't spend a lot of time in hotel room. I suppose location close to shopping would be nice.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It depends on what you want to shop for...

If you want to be close to many malls, choose one of the hotels close to the Skytrain... Grand Hyatt, Four Seasons, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, etc. Look on the hotel's own website and also check www.sawasdee.com for prices. The sawasdee, agoda, etc prices usually include tax and service (17.7%) and often, breakfast, but read the fine print.

The Peninsula are doing a GREAT deal at the moment, stay 3 night and get the 3rd free. The Peninsula is a FAB hotel. However, if you want to be close to malls check out the four seasons as they ae doing a great deal too (third night free!)

We liked the Plaza Athenee- its a block to the skytrain and one stop or so to the shopping malls. Its a great 5 star hotel in a nice neighborhood as well.
