Bangkok and Bali or Bangkok and Phuket??
We are planning a trip in late October, and we are trying to choose where to go? We want a relaxing type of beach holiday once we have visited Bangkok.

We cannot decide between Bali and Phuket and would be grateful on any information, including the best areas to stay in these places.

Thank you in advance!

Kate

Since you are going to Bangkok for sure, I'd stay in Thailand for your beach time. Bali is quite a ways away, a couple hour flight, so that makes a difference. There are many lovely beach areas in Thailand you can visit. Phuket is one option, some people prefer Ko Samui, both you would likely want to fly. I also like Hua Hin, just a two hour taxi ride from Bangkok, and it has a good variety of nice resorts.

We are actually considering a trip to Bangkok, & Angkor, Cambodia. Of course, we have already been to Thailand. The flight to Bali is 4 hours and to make it worthwhile, you probably need about 6 days there. You have not stated how long your trip is but I think that should weigh in your thinking.

I have to agree with the previous posters. Phuket and Baliu are both great. Both places offer many things to do and see. Since Phuket is closer, might as well go there. Have not been to other beaches in Thailand but have heard wonderful things about them. You might also thing about some time in Chaingmai in northern Thailand.

Good luck.

I just spent about a week at thailand beaches and found them wonderful. In my research I found people saying to go to Bali for culture & Thailand for beaches. I spend 2 days at Ko Pha Ngan (secluded but too rustic for my party), 3 days in Ko Samui (beautiful beaches), 3 days in Ko Phi Phi (amazing place to rent a boat & explore crystal waters & snorkel), & 2 nights in Krabi. I was looking for less crowded places to relax and was not disappointed by my choices at all. Good Luck

Never been to Phuket But Bangkok & Bali is nice. That way you can see two different cultures. We spent a week in Bali a few years ago & had a great time. Great cheap shopping. We rented a jeep & drove around altho the drivers there are mad to put it mildly. Saw lots of lovely places. It is very touristy but so is Phuket.
