B?angkok Airport

Posting this on both theThailand and Indian Branch as many of you traveling to India transit through Bangkok.

its been a few years since we flew in and out of the Bangkok airport. They used to have sleeping rooms and showers you could use for a nominal fee.
Does any of you "tree dwellers" have current information on whether that is still an option? And also if you have a web page address for the airport showing information on these sleep rooms. I tried a search on the net but couldn't find anything. Otherwise, I guess my only option is the Amari (ouch!) We are only transiting through and will be coming off a "killer flight" from Honolulu (arriving at night 10:15 and) before flying early the next morning to Yangon. Also need a direct hotel web site for booking at the Amari.

Someone posted this on a webwsite "Instead she took us to the large spa upstairs near the departure terminal.  We were able to get a room with comfy mats or the floor and sleep for 4 hours at $18 a person.  It was $24 if you wanted to sleep unlimited hours."
This is what I am trying to find out more information about this and if there is a website for it?

My guess is you originally posted this on Lonely Planet's Thorntree. Suggest you look into Rama Gardens (15-30 minutes away) rather than the Amari. Don't know about any options at BKK airport.

your flight isn't a "killer flight"...how would you like to be those of us who come from the east coast usa?

The website for Bangkok Airport is http://www.airportthai.co.th. Click on Bangkok. According to the website, you can hire a dayroom (4-hour minimum) with a bed. "Day rooms are available for passengers on the 2nd and 4th floor of Terminal 1&2 at reasonable rates. Advance reservation of rooms can be made by yourself through the telephone number 0-2535-3710-7." (The tel number looks funny to me; of course add 66 for Thailand when calling internationally, but it still looks like some number are missing. Maybe there is a central phone number for the airport, check the website.)

Don't know anything about the "spa upstairs" The airport website may give shops and their location so perhpas you could find info there.

I've used the day rooms at BKK airport twice, the last time was in Jan 2003. It is called Louis' Tavern Day hotel. It's nothing fancy but it is super convenient. I would book ahead since both times we used them there was no vacancy. We just called to reserve.

I found this information, but i'm not sure how current it is.
Airport Dayrooms
There are short time rooms available in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. They are situated between immigration and the airplane gates, so you don't have to enter Thailand to use the dayrooms. They are officially called the Louis' Tavern Dayrooms Transit Hotel. There are 110 dayrooms total, so they are usually available. The rooms are well furnished, comfortable, clean, air-conditioned with private bath. The rate is 1400 baht for each 4 hours. Dayroom 1 is located
in the Terminal 1 Transit center (2nd floor Arrival Hall). Telephone (662)535-3710, FAX (662)535-3725. Dayroom 2 is located in Terminal 2, 4th floor(take the escalator up). Telephone (662)535-3718, FAX (662)535-4324.
