Bangkok Air wants copy of my DL and Credit Card

Hi

I'm having security issues with Bangkok Airlines. I contacted them regarding getting a Discovery Pass and making flight reservations between BKK, LPQ and REP. In a confirming email to me they want me to fax a copy of my DL and a copy of the front and back of my CC. They've given me 48 hrs to do this. Plus they want another $50 for CC transaction. Is there a way around this (using a travel agent)? I'm not willing to send them anything except a copy of the front of my CC. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences!! Thanks.

faxing is the safest way to do it. If you don't trust who your dealing with then don't do the deal.

Aloha!

The other option is to send them a money order. In the past, they required that all Discovery Passes be paid for via money order.

Paying by gredit card must be new. As the others have said it was always by cash/moneyorder. The Bangkok Air office near where I live never mentioned paying for the pass by CC a year ago. Paid by cash.

They charge 5% to use a credit card. I sent them a money order to their NY office (I live in upstate NY).

Requesting a copy of the credit card and proof of identity is a common practice in Asia. There's a lot of people trying to use stolen credit cards for online purchases in Asia.

It's the standard practice. if you don't want to do it, be prepared to just pay the prices online.

It's a common practice with Asian Airlines. Thai Air, here in L.A., wanted a copy of I think my driver's license and credit card faxed to them before doing the ticketing and mailing a ticket to me here locally. So, I usually just drive across the freeway to their office in person and buy my tickets. So, Bangkok Air's practice doesn't surprise me at all. Happy Travels!

Thanks everyone. I mailed them a certified check. That option was not mentioned to me the first time I called. I called again and found out that I indeed could pay by that method. BTW they charge $15 for the tickets to be sent to my address by courier (Fed Ex). Using Fed Ex the tickets are refundable. You can have the tickets/pass mailed via the USPO mail method for no charge. But if you choose this option your tickets are not refundable! I.m paying the $15 !!
