We will be in Bagan on Jan 5-9 and last night my two travel companions said they want to do the Balloons over Bagan. I found a website that says the rate is $330 per person. Is that about right? I am booking everything through Santa Maria, would I be wise to book this through them ( I dont know what thier price is yet) or somewhere else, or wait until I arrive?
I will book it for the 6th in case the weather is bad and then we still have the 7th and 8th to reschedule.
After doing the hot air balloon in Vang Vieng in Laos for $75 this sounds like a crazy price! I had heard it was around $225.

By booking through Santa Maria, you'll save a significant amount. I think it was about $250 from Santa Maria 2 years ago. Do book so you have the possibility of re-booking if the ballons don't fly.
Contact Santa Maria ASAP, as Balloons over Bagan is typically sold out a couple of months in advance.
Thanks Kathie I will.
Yes, we saved a bit through Santa Maria as well.
I did with Santa Maria too. You do have to book in advance because the places are limited, 2 of us had to be on waiting list and then went on the trip for the next day. It was worth the money! I thought it was crazy at first.
I booked it with SM and it is $260 pp, better than the $330 I saw on another travel agents website. Thanks everyone.
May the weather cooperate!
