Bali / Gilis in second half of August

Jump to last reply

Hi, I've not been backpacking to Bali for nearly 20 years and this year I'm finally going back.. with the kids (10 & 14).
I'm aware that Bali has become more developed but not sure in what other ways it's changed and how much my local knowledge will still apply.

I only have flights booked at the moment and we will be heading around randomly checking into different losmen.

What I'm not sure is if the accommodation is still so easily accessible on the spur of the moment. Not been in August before (April and September previously) so not sure whether free rooms disappear at this time?

I used to pay between 5000Rp and 15000Rp per night for rooms with fan (between £1.50 and £5). Sure these numbers will have changed but wanted to give an idea of what level of accommodation I was happy with before.

Also want to go to the Gilis for a few days.

Any advice or more recent intel on accommodation in August - partcularly on the Gilis - would be much appreciated.

Cheers
