Bali Booked
We have booked our tickets to Bali for May 2010. The original plan was to wait to see if any airline had a deal, so we could save a few dollars. However, the best laid plans of mice and pandas....Singapore Air had a decent fare with very good connections, so we went and bought the tickets. It's about $200 les per ticket than the usual price, a good price, but not great. The deciding factor was that the service on Singapore Air is superior to all domestic US carrires. The connections are better than any I've seen. Most itineraries to Bali have one or two very long layovers. Even though there are three stops (JFK, Frankfurt and Singapore), the total flight time is approximately eight hours less than the usual connections. We pulled the trigger.
The difficult part will be hiding from Bob, who will also be in Bali at the same time.

Can anyone imagine Bob paying someone else's expenses? It's a wonder he shares in payments for Karen.
We booked on the actual first day we were eligible. We're not using points, so we did not have Filmwill's headaches. We probably could have saved some money, but not on Singapore Air. We don't need luxury ( we always fly coach), but we try to minimize the ridiculous tortures of the airline industry. Singapore Air gives us the best chance for this. Plus, AskOksena is always touting them.
Kathie- we now have three trips booked, Shanghia in September, bangkok in November and Bali in May. It's really exciting.

Andy, wave to a bunch of us on Oahu (for the GTG) as you fly over to Shanghai in September!
(I agree, it's nice to look under "My Itineraries" on UA and see three of them in there... BKK, Oahu, Boston)

Even though we'll be there at the same time as you, I refuse to disclose our hotels and/or locations.
I look forward to many fun day trips/excursions and evenings partying with Beth and Karen. Hope you and Bob enjoy each others company.
Pook, you're really going to be there? Will we finally get to meet? Make sure that we don't tell these guys where we're going.

Hanuman-FW's partner, David, is a North carolina basketball fan. This is usually not spoken about in public, but I thought you should know.
We're going to be in sanur, Ubud and then Seminyak from May 21 for two weeks. Bob has a moment by moment schedule. I can tell you where we're eating lunch on May 28th.
