Ayyuthya - Guide

Can anyone help me out with a guide for Ayyuthya? My husband and I have done a number of river cruises hence are not keen on seeing it with the Shangri la or others. Many people who have gone without a guide have given me -ve feedback so i want a guide who can help us understand the history and background. Thanks.

Sameera, this is an excerpt from another fodorite's answer, it might be helpful to you: "Bangkok - Julie cell number 01-846-2014. In addition to our day trip where we had Julie as a driver/guide, we also used Julie's company to pick us up and deliver us to the airport. Web site www.julietaxi.com We would like to give Julie a major thank you and we wish her continued success.
Chaing Mai - Our driver/guide was Nipon - cousin to Julie cell number 09-855-3522. Very knowledgable from sights to shopping to restaurants - air conditioned mercedes. Very reasonable - excellent English - smart, good conversationalist made our day in Chaing Mai a success!"

Thanks for this Fab. What I want is a guide. I already have a car and driver as I am local. Julie's cabs are great but are more transportation than sightseeing as I understand. If anyone can assist me with even a travel agency who will provide only a guide I will be very grateful.

Sameera, I am glad I could help. I will be doing the same trip in February - when are you going? - and would love some details, if you don't mind. Where are you staying in Bangkok and do you have a guide you recommend in that city? Thank you!

I am local, fab, but leaving shortly. The forum has some great posts for acco. Re guide I also wrote to eastwestsiam, e-mail thitiya <[email protected]>. They are willing to provide only a guide or a guide with a car and driver. Else for u Juiles is always a good option. I will post again once I go to Ayyuthya with the guide re what my exp was and who i used.
