We are a senior couple(69 and 71).We traveled independently in 2004 to Thailand(Bangkok and Kata Beach),Cambodia, and Vietnam. Now we have 5-6 weeks and plan to visit
Myanmar, 17 days, with help from Santa Maria travel,
.Luang Prabang 5 days
Hanoi 5 days(because we enjoyed it so much the 1st time)
Beijing 4-5 days as a stopover on the way home.
We had planned to go to Chaing Mai and Chaing Rai after Myanmar but wonder if it will be a bit too much of the same thing..The trip is the last week in January to early March.
I am thankful for all the information from the regular Asian Fodorites and look forward to some helpful advice.I'm sure I will have more questions .

Trip Ideas
CM and CR are very different places....you might find CR more interesting, but honestly there is not a lot to do there...i prefer the golden triangle are more, about an hours ride further north...
the anantara hotel is a beautiful place and you might like it for a resbite from your earlier travels...
People are divided on Chiang mai. Some love it and it is their favorite place in Thailand. Others (myself included) think its boring. I much prefer Bangkok. It's impossible to say whether you will like it. Do note that it is not rural. It is the second largest city in Thailand. It does have some very nice Wats.
Thanks for your info.I thought that because of our trip to Burma amd Luang Prabang we might skip CM amd CR,however we'll seriously consider them depending on our final itinerary.
