Sharing: maybe someone can use a bit of this stuff.
Earning AAmiles using AA Citi card purchases
Purchasing 186,000 AA miles
Three RT Holiday trips
AA Citi Card retention mile bonus
AA customer service mile credits
We accumulated 315,000 AAmiles this year:
Cost:
US$ 4,332 ($2,166 per ticket) purchasing 186,000 AAmiles/AA Mileage Multiplier (2.33 cpm).
Using the 315,000 AAmiles
We booked two First Class** AAward tickets to Asia.
CX First Class**: ORD/YYZ/HKG/DPS
CX: BKK/CMB
CX**: CMB/HKG/YYZ/ORD
We had considered an OneWorld AAward ticket but in the end, this worked out much better.
Using OneWorld award and 150,000 AAmiles (for 25K flown) would have given us Business Class tickets.
Using the above itinerary (almost 25K flown) we get bumped up to First.
Pretty good deal for $2,166./ticket.
**First Class only YYZ/HKG all other flights are Business.
