This spring trip I'm spending it in the Kansai region. I'm interested in visitng the Lake Biwa district, which is east of Kyoto. Has anyone had any experiences visiting the location? I'm thinking perhaps of staying overnight at a hot springs resort or at a ryokan, and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations.
Thanks in advance!

Yes we've been as a day trip from Kyoto to Hikone. I have no accommodation recommendations but advise you to see the castle at Hikone.
Otsu is the place with hotels but all the little towns around Biwa-ko have ryokans and hotels to stay in. Beautiful place, you will enjoy. We rented bikes and rode for a couple of hours along the lake shore. Beautiful clean water on a bright but chilly spring day.
Aloha!
