Any Recommendations for SCUBA and what to do in Phukhet

We will be in Phukhet in April for 4-5 days, after a 12 day tour of BKK and northern Thailand. . Looking to relax, and do a day of scuba. Any suggestions for a scuba operator? What about specific dive sites? What else to do in Phukhet? Restaurants, night life, etc?

My preference for diving in Thailand is for a longer liveaboard experience, otherwise all the day boats are kind of crowded at the same sites. However, if you only have a day or two, see if the boat goes to Richelieu Rock. It can be a really great dive site! I'll be diving Thailand in April, too! Have a great time.

We are also divers and will be in Phuket this April for the first time.

I'd suggest checking out the talk board on scubadiving.com. We found some great info on dive ops, especially for day trips. We are scheduled to do a day boat (3 tanks) to Shark Point, Anemone Reef and Koh Doc Mai. The first two sites are very popular.

Also you can check out phuket.com for more dive info.

Have fun!

From what I learned, most day trips are either 2 or 3 tanks and that all depends on the dive site location. All day boats take a few hours (each way) to get to the dive sites since none are that close to the mainland.

I'd suggest checking out the links I gave you and read about the sites that interest you most depending on your certification level since I don't know them that well.

For booking and dive ops, I actually worked with a woman from the scubadiving.com talk board who works and lives on Phuket as a dive planner - she gave me numerous options based on our interests and time constraints. Good Luck!

The woman goes by Quero on the dive board - she has been very easy to work with and very helpful. (her real name is Marcia and she will email you directly if you prefer)

It will be easy to find her or you can always read previous Thailand/Phuket postings for more info.

Phuket Pro Dive in the Chalong Bay area offers day trips (2,3 & 4 tank) and live aboards - highly recommended for exemplary customer service.
