An extra day...would you spend it in Luang Prubang or Siem Reap

We're on the fence about where to stay our extra night.
3 night in SR and 4 in LP
or vice versa.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!!!

REally, you can go either way, both places are easily worth 4 days (or more). You might make your decision on the basis of your level of interest in the temples at Angkor. If you are very interested in these temples, you'll want the 4 days there. Photos can help you decide: www.marlandc.com

Your photos are spectacular!
I really think I'm leaning more toward SR.
I guess I need to do a little more investigation on LP.

This is a tough decision. I guess I'd probably go with Siem Reap, but your time would be well spent in either place.

Kathie, I have just seen your photos, amazing thank you for the link. I am trying and finding it very difficult to decide on our next trip, I have a big (sigh) birthday in November, unable to decide on India, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur,Udaipur, or Bangkok, and Siem Reap and maybe Chiang Mai, or Vietnam? Any recommendations? OOps, sorry don't want to hijack the thread. I'll start a new post,
Pauline.

Jasper, for what it's worth...SR would be my choice as well. Been to both and, as much as I love them both dearly, LP is perfect for 3 nights. 4 nights might be hovering right on too much. SR, on the other hand, there's LOTS to do and see...4 nights is perfect.

It really depends on your level of interest in temples. Some get "templed out" and some cannot get enough. Use that as a guide to making your choice. Both are wonderful.

I agree with Gpanda. We had 3 nights in LP and could have used one more. While we enjoyed the temples in Siem Reap, we had 3 full days which included a school visit with Ponheary and a trip to the Vietnamese floating village. We felt there wasn't much to be gained by visiting more temples.

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback.
I think it'll be SR for the extra day.
This trip is in January and I'm already having such a great time just reading about the countries and planning! I read once that travel is 85% anticipation. I read that once and thought it was spot on.

If you all would be so kind, I'll post my tenative itinerary in a few days for your "approval".
Can't make final plans until I get the fodorites "that'll work".
