Airport Hotel

We will have a 7 hour layover in Singapore late night. I did a search and found an airport hotel,.Ambassador Transit, It looks just fine. In the event we find ourselves not wanting it I don't want to make a reservation. But, I don't want to screw up and not have a room if we're dying for a bed (flying coach from L.A.). In your experience is it necessary to make a reservation?

Thank you

The Transit hotels ( T1 & T2 ) 'do' get booked up in advance and can be full, but there are also great shower and changing facilities if yuo don't take a room.
My opinion is a room ( blocks of 4 or 6 hours I think ) is of use because even if you don't sleep you can relax and of course if you have much cabin baggage leave it there if you want to wander around. Unless you are on a budget I would go for it, in particular after a flight all the way from LAX you do get to rest and relax.

In my experience, if you want to stay at the transit hotel (which is airside in the airport) you must have a reservation. The transit hotel is VERY basic - clean, but no real amenities. Towels are thin (something that bothers me), there is a tiny bar of terrible soap. Since you are in transit, you will have checked your baggage through to your destination (Bali?) so you will only have a carry-on with you. I do pack tiny samples of toiletries so I have something to use there.

Even though I always fly biz, I do find that by the time I get to Singapore, I want a shower and a bed. The transit hotel will give you that.

It cheap - make a reservation online. Do note that you pay in blocks of hours, 4 or 6 as I remember.

The transit hotel is barely adequate. The room is clean and quiet but very basic, as is the the bath. For the price, it is probably worth it for the time you will be there. Do make a reservation - you may have to call them as e-mail did not work for us.

One curiosity about the transit hotel is that the rooms have no windows. So you don't have to worry about getting a room with a good view.

There's a transit hotel in the new T3 as well. T2 & T3 are run by Ambassdor. T1 is by Rainforest. If you want to splurge, you can check out short-term rates at the Crowne Plaza between T1 and T3.

The Transit Hotel is totally adequete - I've stayed there a few times. It is conveniently located ( walking distance of maybe two minutes after the immigration and without hassles , you will be in a quiet room. Who cares about a room with no windows - only to be there for a few hours. For luxury, there is the new Crown Plaza.
