Hi,
I am planning a trip to Bhutan for this Sept/Oct. I want to see the sites, but not be rushed with groups of tourists to take some pictures and then on to the next place. If anyone has tips on a different tour that takes me into villages to interact with the people and to learn more about Buddhism, please let me know. Would be up for hiking as well. Thanks.
Advice for more spirtual tours in Bhutan?

It sounds like what you want is not a tour with a group but a custom trip. There are many tour agencies in Bhutan, and all will create individualized trips for people. The trick is making sure you communicate very clearly what you want and what you don't want.
Pull up all of the threads about Bhutan by choosing it in the drop-down menu at the top of the page. You'll find a number of trip reports, some with good expereinces, some with bad. Read them with special attention to how they worked with the travel agency to get the kind of trip they wanted.
You might be especially interesed in a trip report by robbietravels about her trip to Bhutan.
thanks. i went to robbietravels trip reports and the one titled bhutan and india was about india. was there a specific report you had in mind? i could not find it.
Sorry, the trip report was not tagged as a trip report or as Bhutan. Here's the link for the first part of the report you found.
