Advice for High Season in Thailand - Dec 2014

Jump to last reply

We are planning a 8-10 day trip coering Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Krabi in late Decmeber - I know this is the peak season but kids' vacation schedules don't give us much play. I have scoured the Forums for tons of advice regarding the three destinations and have gained a lot of travel knowledge. However, the central issue is reasonable lodging - just can't afford the 137 Pillars and the Rayavadees. Any suggestions about places in the $200-$300 range - if at all possible in that season. I know we will have to compromise a lot for that. Also, we are 4 people - 2 adults, a 19 year-old (adult) and a 16 year-old. Can we squeeze into one room - with a fee for extra guest?

I know we have to move soon, so any insight will be sincerely appreciated. Mucho thanks in advance.
