A very embarrasing question

I have been thinking of asking this question for a long time and I guess this is the time to ask it.
Whaen I travel I get EXTREMELY constipated and this make me miserable. I do all the usuall things like drinking water. I was wondering if anyone else have this problem and what they do for remedy.

Street food would help, but be sure to bring antibiotics and Imodium. For constipation, bring small (5 oz) cans of prune juice.

I always travel with Senokot, which is similar to the fiber pills Gloria mentioned above. (They are made of senna).
I find these very helpful. Your problem is quite common, I think, especially after long sedentary plane rides..

That reminds me: My travel companions had their luggage lost temporarily by the airline on a recent trip to South Africa. What disturbed them the most about this event was not the temporary loss of their clothing or cosmetics. It was that they were without their cans of prune juice for 48 hours!!!! And believe me, there is NO prune juice to be had in CapeTown. We scoured the city up and down, to no avail. Thankfully, the luggage did show up two days after we arrived so no lasting harm was done.

I also suffer from this problem, even if I am only away for the weekend. I have solved the problem by taking a Senocot( or similar) on the first night. Don't wait until there is a problem. It seems that by not letting the problem start I am OK for the rest of the trip.

Try the native Indian remedy. Warm milk with a spoonful of sugar at bedtime. Ask your doc if diabetic.

Take Metamucil with you and also look for meals that you can include beans, corn and other roughage in your diet.

Metamucil or the equivalent can be found in many pharmacies in Asia.

Constipation is I think quite a normal reaction of the body triggered by the subconcious part of of ones mind often driven by anxiety of toilets and clean facilities etc. Suggest you not to worry about it too much, take no medications, just try to eat some fruit especially in the mornings, bananas excellent. If the constipitaion continues for a long time you must see a doctor.

"Laci Le Beau" Super Dieter's Tea. Follow directions by enjoying a cup of hot or cold tea the night before you go to bed. It is very gentle and you don't have to schedule around it working. I bought mine at The Vitamin Shoppe, but I have seen it in grocery stores and health food stores. I have lots of friends who use this for the exact reason you mentioned. Works great. Good luck.

This is a great question and I see lots of helpful suggestions. I get exactly the same problem every single time I fly, even if I drink all the water I can before, during, and after the flight and eat fruits and veggies only. I have tried prunes as well with no effect. The juice may be more helpful. I am planning to stay hungry and only drink on my next flight. We'll see what happens.
