We loved the border ceremony!
When we were there, men and women went through security separately, but then were rejoined to sit in the stands for the ceremony.
@indianpearl: We loved the ceremony too. I am glad to note that when you went there, men and women were rejoined to sit in the stands for the ceremony. That way family and friends could sit with one another. These logistics must be changing from time to time, dictated as they are by the security officials. Thanks for reading and responding.
It looks like the movements of the soldiers that we saw were already toned down from what they used to be earlier. In July 2010, both India and Pakistan agreed to tone down the aggressiveness as it was hurting the knees and feet of the soldiers.
