A Day in Gyeongju

Jump to last reply

I’ll be in visiting Gyeongju for one day in the last weeks of May. I haven’t decided when yet.

1. Has anyone stayed at the Shillabang in Gyeongju? I wanted to stay at Sarangchae but apparently they are booked solid the last 2 wks of May. Can anyone make any recommendations for hanok stays? Something not too pricey please.

2. Can anyone recommend any good ssambap places in Gyeongju? I’d like to go where the locals go not so much tourist.

3. Since I only have 1 day to tour Gyeongju, I’m thinking about visiting the places below. Is I’ll be in visiting Gyeongju for one day in the last weeks of May. I haven’t decided when yet.

4. I’m actually very bad with public transportation and time. Could you please tell me if the below directions are correct?

5. In terms of transportation costs, is it cheaper to take the city bus tour to visit these 3 areas or should I just take rides from the bus terminal independently? If someone could please direct me to a site where I can get bus ride costs, I’d really appreciate it. If the site is in English, I’d appreciate it even more.

Gyeongju
1. 20 min. Korail from Busan to Gyeonju
- Directions to the Intercity Bus Terminal – Take bus to the Intercity Bus Terminal in order to get to Bulguksa Temple.
2. Bulguksa Temple
- Directions from the Intercity Bus Terminal: Express Bus Terminal or Gyeongju Train Station. Bus 10 or 11 (comes every 8min) or 12 (stops at info desk) for Bulguksa.
3. Seokgulam Grotto
- Directions from Bulguksa Temple: A 15-20 min bus ride from the temple and located on the top of a mountain. The bus comes 40 minutes past every hr btwn 8:40am - 4:40pm and goes back to the temple every hr on the hr (last leaves at 5:20 pm).
4. Anpaji Pond
- Directions Back to the Intercity Bus Terminal: Take the bus back from the Grotto to the Temple. Take Bus 10 or 11 from the Temple back to the Bus Terminal. Anpaji Pond is in the city center so should be walkable from the station.
