9 days/10 nights Bali-which areas to stay at?

Husband and I arrive on Bali @3:30 pm on Aug. 16. We plan to stay for 10 nights and will have 9 full days for activities. I was thinking about staying in 2 or 3 different locations and seeing the sights in each area, then move to the next location and check in to a different hotel. Ubud will be one of the locales we stay at.

We do not want to stay in any of the large beach areas so I was looking at Sanur, Candidasa, Amed, and Lovina as places to stay. I will hire a driver for some of the days, to explore the temples and countryside and transport us from one locale to the next. I have sent an email to Putu but he has not responded yet. We both enjoy snorkeling. We will want to take some cooking and craft classes. We'd also like to do a short trek and white water rafting if the rivers are flowing enough in August. We'd like a mix of culture and nature with a small amount of shopping.

How should I divide the time on Bali? What order of where we stay makes the most sense for airport access?
