5 days booked in Ubud - would you spend one at the Writer's festival?

Jump to last reply

The situation is: DH and I are spending a week in Bali following a week spent in North Sulawesi where we will be doing a mixture of volunteer work and some tourist activities. We will have 5 nights in Ubud and 2 nights in Seminyak before we go home to Sydney. Despite being well traveled, middle aged Australians we have never been to Bali.

We had booked the time in Ubud without realising that the writer's festival is on. However we are a couple who enjoy these sorts of festivals - we often attend seminars and thought provoking ideas festivals and attended the Sydney Writer's Festival this year.

The program in Ubud looks interesting but it was not our reason for going to Ubud. Rather we were looking for Balinese cultural experience, stunning scenery, volcano visiting, eating, maybe a bit of yoga, spa treatments etc.

What do others think? Would you give up a day of our sightseeing time in Ubud to go to the writer's festival? Just tell me what you would do - once I have a variety of answers it will help me decide.
