4 hour layover in Taiwan, what to do?

We have 3-4 hour layover in Taipei on LAX-Manila-LAX via Eva Air. Any suggestions on what to do inside or outside of the airport? After sitting for 12.5 hours in the plane, I don't think I can "sit" around at the airport. Gotta move!

There is an aviation museum just outside the CKS (or need I say TTI now?) airport. I've never been into it, but there is nothing else to do in your timeframe. Not much inside the airport either. Only a few duty free stores and small food shops.

Is there anything outside around the airport where I can just go walk around and look? How about a brief taxi ride? Is that feasible, if so how much should I expect to pay? Do most of the cab drivers speak English? Is it safe for a lone female traveller?

you will not have any time to go away from the airport. when i fly EVA from HNL via TPE to BKK, there is an extra $100 charge if you want to stay in taipei as opposed to onward. also if you leave the airport you will need to get your PP stamped, and then a departure tax when 'leaving'. also CKS airport is a long way from taipei so you will not get far before you need to go back!

they do have the new part of the airport open and if you are there during the business day, some shops. the best is the national museum replica shop. expensive by excellent pieces. just keep thinking the 'pearl of the orient' (MNL) awaits you!!!

ok, Haroth, you just used the word "tax" which is just like kryptonite to me! I'll stay put and keep focused on what awaits me on my final destination. Would you happen to know if there are any massage chairs at the airport?
