Hello Jannik,

My fondest memory about Singapore is definitely it's zoo!
We spent a whole day out there, because we weren't interesting at all in all those large, modern shopping malls.

Besides, you might want to visit the Jurong Bird Park, the Orchids Garden, the Night Safari, etc.

While, Chinatown and Little India a worth a short stroll, they are rather built up things, when you compare to places in China or India.
Don't bother with Sentosa.

Enjoy, but in my opinion, four days are really enough for Singapore.
I hope you will have the same amount of time in Hongkong.

Oh my,

that should be 'its zoo', of course.

There's plenty to see, you will find What's On magazines in your hotel room, the Zoo for sure. Get a day ticket for the MRT. Remember Singapore is much more than just the city area, get out and about on the island, boats take just 45 minutes to Indonesia which is 'interesting'. Shopping prices are reasonable once you get away from orchard Road, go to Chinatown and Little India, also Bugis Junction (MRT station ) and you will find lots of bargains both in the mall and the night market opposite.

You must eat crabs at one of the seafood places between the city and the airport. It is almost worth going to Singapore just to do that. Not expensive and wonderful. The waitress told us we had ordered too much, cut our order in half and she was right. Singapore is very hot. Stay at a hotel with a swimming pool.

Hi Jannik,

We just got back from Singapore 3 weeks ago. We spent 3 days there and it was more than enough. Places to see are, taking the Singapore River boat tour, the Night Safari(really nice, I highly recommended it)and the Underwater Seaworld in Sentosa Island. Regarding accomodation, we stayed at the New 7th Storey Hotel(www.nsshotel.com). It is cheap and also a block away from the MRT(Singapore subway station). It is easy and cheap to use. Even though we had a good time in Singapore, we had more fun in Malaysia.

make the effort to get to the zoo early and have breakfast with the orangutangs . it is a special experience..it costs about $16singapore and includes a huge buffet breakfast to rival the ones at the hotels.. afterwards you get to get close and personal with these facinating primates and share some tropical fruit with them, photos etc..as soon as this finishes make your way to the polar bear show ,it almost upstages the orangutangs!!!! we caught a train(MRT)and then transferred to a bus from our hotel to the zoo and it was a great way to get there. we stayed at the hotel phoenix which was right on top of a mrt station and around the corner from orchid ave and all the shopping.. it was great ... also take a cruise on the river and have lunch at one of the riverside restaraunts.there is plenty to do to fill a weel let alone a few days.

i forget to mention the best food value is the food halls under and in the shopping plazas. the beer is at its cheapest here ,about $3sing a large glass and about $10sing for a huge serving of roast duck or pork. great atmosphere and a top spot to meet the locals.
