2 weeks in Vietnam

Jump to last reply

A friend and I will be traveling to VietNam and staying for two weeks, arriving October 15th. We
are landing in Hanoi and heading home from Ho Chi Minh City. So far only our flights are booked so we're looking for suggestions on places to see and how many days in each. We're thinking 4 nights in Hanoi (will be arriving late the first night so it will only be 3 days). Then a 2 day river cruise along Ha Long Bay.

I've heard mixed reviews on Sapa - some say it is a "must" and others say it is dirty and touristy. I know it is difficult and time consuming to get to. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

DaNang, Hue and Hoi An are also on our list. Thinking of spending about 4 days exploring this area. I know transportation takes time and, where possible, we would fly.

We would also like to spend a few days at a beach. Been reading about Cua Dai Beach in Hoi An as well as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. We would spend 2 days at one of the beaches, weather permitting that time of year.

That leaves about 3 days for Saigon.

Are there any "must sees" that I have left off? Anything that isn't that important and can be eliminated? We don't want to rush from place to place and make this a whirlwind tour. We want to enjoy the cities we visit and spend enough time to bring back fond memories.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We are totally open to suggestions.

Maryann
